COOPER! - the SHARK

He loves sharks and Katie found this cute cotume for him at OLD NAVY! He loved the whole trick or treating thing and getting candy. He came trick or treating at my work, and he just kept telling me that he needed to fill his pumpkin all the way up! One of the programmers asked if he knew where the sharks lived, and of course Cooper said, "Yes, they live in the Aquarium". {One of his favorite places to visit.}

Madden loved the day as well. While he was at my office trick or treating he told one of the developers to "WALK THE PLANK, MATIE." The developer thought that it was hilarious. One of the things that I love about this picture is Madden's pinky. It is just like mine and Jason's.

We decided to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors this weekend. We went up to Snowbasin. We loved it so much on Saturday, that we brought Jason and Katie back on Sunday afternoon. Madden and Cooper loved throwing rocks in the stream.

Skiing at Last!

We finally made it skiing! We had some passes to Deer Valley ski resort, so we rented some skis and had a wonderful day on the slopes. Here we are at the end of the day! (Notice, we're still standing!) We were a little nervous because we haven't been skiing for years (10 - I think). Greg didn't miss a beat, but it took me a few runs before I felt comfortable again. I hope we can go again before the season is over!

Valentines Day Weekend Trip!

As you can see by the photos, we were able to escape for a couple of days to beautiful Bryce Canyon. It was spectacular! I have wanted to go to Bryce Canyon for quite a while, so when Ted and Raegene invited us to go this past weekend, we jumped at the chance! The weather cooperated and we had warm (relatively) weather.

Bryce Canyon has had an incredible amount of snow this winter, and luckily for us, the snow made pictures even better. We even tried snowshoeing, which was fun! Greg did an amazing job shooting the scenery!

It felt like we were a million miles away from home! We both needed the break! On our way home, we stopped in Panguitch for church. I think one of the greatest blessings of the church, is that no matter where you are, church always feels like home. The ward in Panguitch was very welcoming, we had the same feeling when we went to church last summer in Moab..

We forgot what the sun looked like, so Saturday Greg and I went in search for some blue sky and the sun! We found it! It was only 1/2 hour away! We went up to Huntsville and stopped at Pineview Reservoir. It was so pretty. Lots of "ice fishermen" and people enjoying the day! We even walked across the Reservoir. It was just nice to get away!

It's been a while, so I decided I need to update the blog with some new pictures. We spent Christmas Eve at Mom's with the McCleary side of the family. Aunt Suki read a story, which was so good, I'll add the title when I find it. Mom always cooks a wonderful dinner, plus we have amazing cooks in our family, so there was so much great food. We had a fun Christmas Eve! Then the next morning was AWESOME! It is so much fun to have little children around and watch their sweet faces and innocence. Cooper was just so content with everything that was going on around him, and Madden was so excited with everything! Lights at Temple Square

We had a nice time tonight seeing the beautiful lights at Temple Square. It was Jason's birthday, so we ate at PF Chang's and then we went to over to temple square. Cooper was snuggled next to Katie in the Baby Bjorn, so he was nice and warm. It was fun to spend the night with Jason and Katie. Madden just loves being by the temple and was disapointed that he couldn't go inside the temple.

Madden called us up last week and wanted to know if we would take him to go get pizza and shoot reindeer. (The Pie Pizzeria in Ogden has an arcade game where you shoot deer.) When we got to the Pie, there were some kids playing the game, so it was easy to get him to eat his pizza first. With his pizza eaten, it was off to shoot the reindeer. We're pretty lucky because he doesn't realize if you put money in, it's more fun. He's content just shooting at the demo game. When we were all done, he didn't want to go home, he wanted to come back to our house, or go to the mall. He was happy when we said we would play with him at his house. Fun night!

It was fun to be at Mom's for Thanksgiving. It was nice to be able to have Paul and Karen's family back from Washington. It's amazing to see how well all of the cousins get along. There was so much yummy food! We have amazing cooks in our family. We all ate way too much, but that's part of the holiday! Mom worked so hard and her home looked wonderful.

For Family Night we had Jason, Katie, Madden and Cooper over for dinner (homemade chicken noodle soup) and then pumpkin carving. It was a lot of fun! Madden didn't like the insides of the pumpkins --"EEWW - GROSS", but he loved when we put the candles inside and lit them up!

Greg suggested that we take Madden on a Grandma/Grandpa date on Friday night. Jason and Katie readily agreed! On Friday night after work, we went to pick Madden up at the park by Jason and Katie's clubhouse and there everyone was -- SURPRISE! Happy 50th Birthday! What a fun surprise! Jason and Katie and with Greg's help planned a fun surprise party. They did a great job with all of the plans, from the invitation, to the food, cake, video and the hours of planning. I'm so proud of them, and it made turning 50 GREAT!

Happy Birthday to Greg! I'm grateful to have such an awesome husband! I'm glad that we get to celebrate at home this year. Usually we're at Lake Powell. So we celebrated with just a small family get together. When Madden got to our house tonight and saw the presents on the table, he said, "You got me some presents?" We had to tell him no, it's Papa's birthday. He loved Greg's tractor cake. I think his favorite part was the card that played music. We had a BBQ with Grandpa Jerry and Verna, Grandma Jane and Smith, Jason, Katie, Madden and Cooper.

So what are grandparents supposed to do? You guessed it -- off to the lake for Madden. There was so much to do on Saturday, but how can you disappoint a 2 year old that is so cute? It was a little cloudy, but it was fun. Grandpa Jerry and Verna joined us as well. Then after boating for a couple of hours, we headed over to Maddox's for a quick lunch. It was Cooper's first boat ride and he did great! What cute grandsons we have!

Greg's nephew got married last Friday in Arizona, so we decided to make a mini- vacation out of it. It was a lot of driving but worth it because we got to see so many beautiful spots that we have always wanted to see. This is Brandon and Chelsea coming out of the temple. It was only 105 that day. She looks beautiful.

As we drove through Monticello I wanted to see the temple. The town is extremely small so it wasn't too hard to find. The temple is beautiful and small!

This rock formation is called "Three Sisters". This was our first stop on the way home from Arizona. It is on the border of Utah and Arizona. The rock formations are amazing, the pictures just don't do them justice.

Greg and I went for a short hike today at Brighton to a placed called Twin Lakes. It was a short hike, about a mile up the mountain. We're glad we didn't let the cool weather deter us. It was absolutely beautiful. It is amazing that we live so close to to the mountains and when we get there, we feel like we're hundreds of miles away. It does us a lot of good to get away from just everyday life, even if its only for half a day.

Only one little mishap. On the way to the church while Paul and Karen were crossing 1-15 on Shepherd lane, a deer jumped onto their car and attacked it. Here is a picture of their car. Thank goodness no injuries -- the deer even ran away. The police thought that Paul's new company car would be totaled.

Even though it was a little overcast, we decided to go boating today. I think the clouds kept the crowd away from Willard, which was fine with us. The water was a little rough, but as usual, it's always fun! Here's Jason on a nice crash. Madden loved to be in the boat, and whenever anyone fell it would yell out to them, "ARE YOU OKAY?" Cindy and Tim, Emily and her friend Amber joined us, and then after we were done, it was to my favorite hamburger place, Maddox's in Willard for a Steak Sandwich!

I love this holiday and all of the patriotism that is around us. It has been a fun day. 5k run with Raegene at 7:30. Then Greg and I rode our bikes to the parade -- Jason and Madden met us there. He loved the firetrucks and the candy! Katie was home with Cooper, we missed them! Next was swimming fun at Grandpa Jerry's and then the traditional bbq with the Sargent family. The fireworks were awesome -- the grand finale was amazing!

Cooper Jones Sargent was born June 30 at 10:14 pm. He weighs 7 lbs 7 oz and was 21". Katie and Cooper and doing great. Madden absolutely loves the new baby. One of the first things he said when he saw him was "Isn't he cute?"

Greg and I go for a bike ride. What a beautiful night to enjoy the Legacy Parkway trail. We got our bikes 10 years ago for our 20th Anniversary, and we still enjoy riding them together!

Tonight we just rode from Farmington to Centerville. Perfect weather for a bike ride, not too hot, just a few swarms of bugs and great company.

We're adding some misters to the flowers in the backyard, and of course Madden needs to help! Then off to find the John Deere tractors, so we can sit in them and pretend we're driving them.

Madden has absolutely no fear of the water. It doesn't matter if his face gets wet, or if he goes under water. He always comes up smiling. He even loved swimming in his "surf" jacket -- hopefully he'll be used to it when we go boating. SUN and FUN!

We've had a great holiday! Nice morning run, time with Jason, Katie and Madden and gorgeous weather - it just doesn't get much better. But it did! We got more time with just Madden, while Jason and Katie went to Angels and Demons. We went to the cemetery and then to McDonalds for lunch. When we asked Madden what he wanted: chicken nuggets or a hamburger, he just said, "I don't care." He's so fun and easy to be around. After lunch, we came home and Madden drove the lawnmower "by self". (No help from papa.) Then he had a nice long nap! We had a yummy BBQ at Cindy and Tim's. Chicken, baked beans, fresh fruit, chips, salad, samoa brownies and homemade Cherry Chocolate chip ice cream. If was a fun day!

My HERO

Greg is so awesome! He is my hero for a lot of reasons. We're going to add central air (hopefully!), but in the meantime, Greg gets to go on top of the roof and get the swamp cooler ready for summer! He never complains about having to get on the roof or do any of the grunge work! I just really appreciate all he does. Here is Greg on top of the house!

Then after this, he even took me shopping for the day. We bought some new running shoes at Wasatch Running Store, and then we went to Park City to walk around the outlets -- just a fun relaxing day -- we ended the day by eating at the Red Iquana in Salt Lake!

We decided that our garden needed a little overhaul. So we brought in some retaining wall blocks, two loads of dirt and re-did our garden area. Greg worked hard on it and it looks great. Madden even got in on the fun of planting peppers, pumpkins and zuchinni! We still need to get more vegetables to plant, but at least it's a start!

We got to enjoy Madden last night while Jason and Katie went to dinner and a show. As usual, he was so much fun to have around. We played outside, mowed the lawn and when we came in Madden had to eat a second dinner with Greg. (Cheerios and angel food cake -- Madden ate his dinner a lot earlier). Then Madden wanted to help Papa do the dishes! (What he really wanted was to play in the water and the bubbles.)

We had a great time on our cruise. We went to the Caribbean -- Aruba, Bonnaire, Grenada, Dominica, St. Thomas and ended in San Juan. We went with Ted and Raegene. We did so many fun things. It was great to get away from everything and spend time together!

We took a fun tour on Dominica. We went to a place called Titou Gorge and swam up a small gorge to a neat waterfall. No pictures here. Then we went to Trafalgar Falls and hiked to some natural hot springs and then the waterfalls. It was gorgeous.

Grandparents Weekend

Greg and I had a great weekend. We got to have Madden all weekend while Jason and Katie went to Las Vegas for a couple days of R & R. Madden was a joy to have. All he wanted to do was play outside, primarily driving the lawnmower with Papa. On Saturday afternoon we took him to Madi's Lacross Game at Westminster College. He loved being on the field and playing with Maci and Morganne.

Madden found this small four-wheeler at the boat show, which he loved driving. He had fun getting on the boats, and watching the wakeboarders, he kept saying do it again, after they finished their runs. But I think his favorite part was just pushing the stroller around all my himself, which was kind of dangerous!

Madden got to come play for a few minutes this morning while Katie went to the doctor. (Our treat!) We went downstairs to the basement because we are getting a new furnance this morning, (Merry Christmas to us!) and Madden decided he wanted Papa to take a picture of him. He's finally warming up to the idea of having his picture taken with the lights! He wanted to wear the hard hat and hold the wrench, such a big helper!

Katie and Jason get to celebrate their birthdays on the 21/22 of December. Here is a picture of them celebrating... Katie turns 25 today and Jason turns 28 tomorrow. No cake -- lemon pie for Katie and gingerbread cookies for Jason.

Madden Visiting Greg

Madden came to see Greg Monday night after the surgery. He just
wanted Papa to get "down" and play. Madden was sad that Papa couldn't play and just give loves.

Greg's Shoulder Surgery

Greg's orthoscopic surgery was Monday. Everything went well.
The tendons were frayed and so Dr. Edwards cleaned everything up. Greg starts therapy tomorrow to get back on the mend.

Our Wooden Nutcrackers

This was the year to re-do the nutcrackers as they were starting to fall apart. Greg did a good job filling in the cracks and repainting the soldiers that we put on our porch every year. We made them quite a few years ago. Way to go Greg!

First Christmas Snowfall

I love this time of year, especially when everything gets blanketed with snow. It really makes it seem more like Christmas

Temple Square

We found out Greg was going to have shoulder surgery, so we hurried to Temple Square to see the lights. Madden loved the lights, but was more interested in just pushing the stroller.

We decided to shoot a few family photos. I think Greg did a great
job on them. Madden even cooperated. Just as we were finishing, Brittany and Shawn came over so we snapped a few with Carson and Madden!
